Thought I’d post this, since it’s quite awesome.

It’s my new setup with a thumbtack board for reminding me of things and for my creative ideas:

Google News Inclusion

This was a cool thing that happened this week.

I had been browsing Google News when I began wondering where they get their sources. Of course, I wanted to get MovieViral.com into Google News. So, I did some research, and found out you can actually apply to be included. There were multiple long articles about what you should say, how you should say it, the type of blogs that are included, etc. I read “it’s hard to get in, but when you’re finally accepted, the benefits are great.” I read stories of rejections over and over and over before getting accepted. I also read stories of people just not getting in.

I approached the situation with an “Ah, what the hell” attitude. I didn’t really care if I got in or not—because I knew MovieViral already had quality content, no matter what Google thought.

Well, to my surprise, Google got back to me in two days informing me MovieViral.com would be added to Google News. Obviously I was quite happy, as this helps solidify what I already knew. It also helps establish MovieViral as an accredited press outlet.

All in all, MovieViral is racking up it’s credentials and I’m proud of it’s success.

Making money on ‘teh nets’

I know this is a big thing on the internet, that being, guides on how to make money on the internet. I think the biggest thing you need to do is create a unique website that brings people there via Google, Yahoo or Bing search. If you call a website MovieNews.com, you’re competing with hundreds of other movie news websites. That was the general idea behind MovieViral.com. We created a website that didn’t cover every single story, but rather the viral campaigns of movies.

But being unique isn’t really that easy these days. Almost everything has been done. It surprises me when websites like Twitter appear, because of its unique way in an un-unique world. So if you’re not going to be unique, you need to remember to tag ALL of your posts with general key words. If you’re writing about making money online, you’d add these tags: Money, Cash, Bucks, Online, Make, Thousands, Millions, Hundreds, AdSense, Google, Guide, Info, Information, News, Market, Marketing, Advertisements, Advertising and so on. People will google these things and hopefully find your site.

After you’ve got your website up, you’ll need to sign up for a ad program. I suggest AdSense, it’s the only one I’ve every used. But it’s really not that great. I’m still trying to expand on this part. I’ve made a lot of money on a plethora of small blogs.

I wish you good luck. If you need any help, always feel free to email me at Nick [at] Contrivial.net.

Oh Twitter, what would I do without thee. I’ve found myself overly addicted with the social networking site twitter (if you couldn’t tell by now). I’ve followed over a thousand people in the last 5 hours in the hopes to slowly gain more followers. It’s very addicting.

Although, one of the downsides is all the direct messages I’m getting (they’re automatically sent) from random people. It’s quite annoying. And now I can’t really follow my favorite accounts. Oh well. It’s worth it. (I also have a dual account where I have everyone I want to follow).

That brings me to “BetYourFollowers.com,”a new API which allows users to do just that. Bet their followers. I’ve done it a few times (betting only spammers and my dual accounts). I ended up gaining more than I lost. It’s pretty fun, but it will be removed soon, since it’s clearly against Twitter API TOS NCIS: LA.

That’s really it for now, I guess. OH and check out @ItsWalken. I love that sooooo much. It’s a fake Christopher Walken. Read it in his voice and laughs will be had.

“BlogCritics” Update

Just an update. I was offered a spot at BlogCritics.org but I’ll probably end up declining it do to a lack-of-time.

And still no update from Sony on Neill or Sharlto interviews.

Twitter and other things

I’ve launched a new twitter account, but it’s a bit of a secret and it’s full of comedy. That’s as much as I will say.

Other than that, I’m still pumped about winning the Peter Jackson signed concept art. And I still haven’t heard back from Sony about Sharlto Copley yet. I’ll keep you posted.

Why not! and more?

I was reading something and I came across the URL http://blogcritics.org. I figured I should check it out. I guess it’s a big blog of reviewing stuff. Who knew? Anyways, I decided to apply for a contributing spot (writer). They have a lot of writers already, so I don’t see a reason why I wouldn’t get accepted.

In other, random, unrelated news – I decided to ask Sony for a Sharlto Copley interview since I was denied (politely and with a good reason) a Blomkamp interview. I feel bad, I emailed her twice; once asking if Blomkamp would be availible at a later time and again to ask about Sharlto Copley.

I’ll keep you posted.

Future of Advertising

I’ve always been a big fan of advertising, so you’ve got to check this out. CBS along with Pepsi has put video advertisements in the next edition of Entertainment Weekly. No, I didn’t say any of that wrong. There will be over 40 minutes of CBS/Pepsi content in the Sept. edition of EW. Check out this link for more.

“The thin battery-powered player, located in the middle of a print ad spread, allows readers to watch five brief promotions for CBS’ “Monday to the Max” lineup, including a video montage of moments from “How I Met Your Mother,” two-and-a-half minutes of “Two and a Half Men,” a montage from “The Big Bang Theory,” a preview of the new comedy “Accidentally on Purpose,” and previews of several new fall dramas.

Readers receive instructions on the use of the player in an introduction by three characters from CBS’ “The Big Bang Theory,” which plays automatically when they first flip the page.”

Neill Blomkamp / Peter Jackson

After attempting to get a Neill Blomkamp interview for MovieViral.com, it seems it wont be happening. Not surprisingly he’s on vacation after a long few weeks of press and other District 9 related travels. Hopefully I can get a hold of him in the future.

Also, today on Twitter I won a Peter Jackson signed concept art. It’s my belief that it’s concept art of the District 9 ship.

“Congrats! You won a Peter Jackson signed concept art! Pls send us your 1)full name 2)address (str, zip, state) & phone # to fedex your gift”

Can’t wait for that to arrive!
